Basil Hill Farm
We are a small hobby farm located in mid-coast Maine. We focus on raising animals and produce in as natural an environment as we can. We are not certified Organic but we don't use any chemicals or antibiotics on any of our animals or plants that could end up in your dinner plate. Even our chicks are never fed antibiotics like so many people do now. We focus on enriching the natural environment around us by actively composting, using heritage plants, companion planting, planting lots of flowering perennials for the local wild insects, and rotating our animals as much as is possible on our small acreage. We strongly believe in quality for not only us humans, but for our livestock, and for our gardens. We are here to protect and help the earth and even though it's hard not to leave a carbon foot print, we will happily use as much as nature can provide and return as much as we can to help it. We are always learning new ways to help out our local environment from heating with wood and solar power, to collecting rain water to water our crops and animals, as well as rotating crops and livestock to prevent disease, and many other practices. Check out what we have to offer.
