Jumbo Brown Coturnix Quail
We have jumbo brown
coturnix quail that we have started to raise here on the farm. These are
amazing little birds. They go from hatching to laying eggs themselves
in 6 weeks time. Nothing compares to them except guinea pigs. We raise
ours on 28% protein turkey starter until they are 6 weeks old and then
we switch them to 22% gamebird grower. These are medicated birds because
it's impossible to find the protein levels they need with unmedicated
feed at this time. I will probably be changing feeds soon however when I find something I can get readily. We will be selectively breeding to get larger stock over time.

Prices coming soon.
- Eggs for eating - pickling - etc.
- Hatching eggs - Hatching eggs require special storage conditions and turning a couple times daily. So the price is a little bit higher. I will give you a free replacement if your first hatch fails. I will guarantee a 60% hatch for the first hatch. These are the same eggs I hatch myself.
- Chicks - sold as day-olds, straight run.
- Young adults - Straight run 6-8 week old.
- Young hens - 6 - 8 weeks old young hens. Just starting their laying career. They need at least 14 hours of light a day to lay.
- Older hens - 8 - 16 months old. Good to start your first batch though not as fertile as they once were. Also good for meat or stew pot. Most, if not all, will be in the 12 month or less range as I don't usually let birds stay
this long.
- Young cocks - 6 - 8 weeks old for meat or breeding / pets.
- Older cocks - 8 - 16 months old. Good to get started with or for meat or stew. Most, if not all, will be in the 12 month or less range as I don't usually let birds stay this long.
- Breeding Trios - 6 weeks - 8 months old.
- Breeding Trios - over 8 months, most likely under 12 months.
- Meat - State certified meat.
